MISSISSIPPI STATE HOG RALLLY
EXPERT RIDER COMPETITION
RULES FOR COMPETETORS
1. Must compete on a Harley Davidson Big Twin Motorcycle
2. Civilian riders only (No motor officers or motor officer instructors)
3. Competitors must be a current National HOG member and must have signed a waiver prior to riding on the course
4. NO aggressive riding or hot-dogging will be permitted
(Contestant will be disqualified from the competition)
5. To be eligible to win the contestant MUST compete Friday and Saturday
NOTE: (OVERALL WINNER WILL BE DETERMINED AS THE RIDER WITH THE LOWEST SCORE AT THE END OF THE TWO DAY RIDING EVENT)
WINNER WILL BE DISCLOSED AT CLOSING CEREMONY
6. Bike must be ridden as equipped: Etc: No windshield or saddle bag removal
7. Riders must attend Mandatory riders meeting 15 minutes before the competition each day, failure to attend can result in disqualification of the rider from the competition.
8. Riders must wear helmet, full fingered gloves, and over the ankle boots
9. Riders are responsible for maintenance and repairs of their own equipment. Should the rider experience and unexpected problem he/she will be allowed an opportunity to make necessary repairs and continue participation. Riding order may be altered if necessary.
10. Any person(s) injured shall immediately report the incident to event staff.
11. All judges ruling will be final (arguments with the judge will be grounds for disqualification)
12. Riders must complete the course as designed with the least amount of penalties. (LOWEST SCORE WINS)
Explanation of Errors:
Cone – If any portion of the motorcycle or rider touches a cone, knocks a cone out of place, delineator or other device that is used to define a riding pattern. This penalty is assessed for each cone contacted.
Cone Down – If any portion of the motorcycle or rider knocks over delineator or other device that is used to define a riding pattern. This penalty is assessed for each cone moved.
Foot – If the rider takes a foot off the foot peg/board and puts it down on the riding surface at any time while negotiating the course. This penalty is assessed each time the foot contacts the riding surface. Foot errors do not include while parking/parked, or after crossing a finish line.
Push Back – (Boundary) If at any time while negotiating a cone pattern the rider goes out of bounds of the set cone pattern with the front tire (ie. missed gate, off-line). Rider must push back into the pattern and complete the cone pattern. This penalty is assessed each time there is a push back.
Drop Bike- If the rider and/or motorcycle falls over while negotiating the course. Rider may upright the motorcycle and continue from the point where the fall occurred.
Off Course – If the rider fails to follow the correct sequence of cone patterns and/or fails to follow the intended path of travel the next cone pattern to be negotiated. Rider must correctly re-enter the course where exited. This penalty is assessed each time the rider is off course.
Line Crossed – Points are accumulated in U-Turns, figure 8’s and 135 pull-outs as 1 point for each line crossed. The object is to make the tightest turns possible.
Penalties:
Penalties are defined as the points added for each error counted:
Bump cone = 1 point
Line crossed = 1 point
Maximum line crossed = 1 point
Knock over cone = 2 points
Foot down = 3 points
Push back = 6 points
Bike Dropped = 8 points
Off Course = 10 points

EXPERT RIDING CHALLENGE
The Expert Riding competition will be an opportunity for riders that have worked hard improving their riding skill to show off their skills while competing with fellow riders.
The Expert Riding challenge will be modeled after police rodeo style competitions. Where space is available there will be various cone patterns that will be challenging and fun, giving the contestant the opportunity to improve his/her skills while competing.
Riders will be required to make u-turns, figure-eights, 135 pull-outs, slow-ride, circular slow-ride, etc. at their best level of skill.
Penalty points will be given for various infractions such as bumping or knocking over cones, putting a foot down, etc.
The winner of the event must compete Friday and Saturday and must complete the courses as designed.
The purpose of the competition is primarily to have fun, show off your riding skills, entertain the crowd, and learn from others.
Our main focus will be on safety NO AGGRESSIVE RIDING OR HOTDOGGING.
